Pete Wicks, the charismatic Strictly star and devoted  dog dad, has found himself at the centre of social media chatter after a follower expressed concern over his French Bulldog Eric’s weight. The comment sparked a flurry of fan support defending Pete’s care and love for his furry family.

The influencer, who also owns Rodney, a rescue Rottweiler, shared a stream of Instagram photos highlighting his life with his pups, including playful moments and behind-the-scenes glimpses from his live podcast tour, Staying Relevant. One photo, however, triggered concern from a follower who worried: “Beautiful babies ones terribly overweight… hopefully isn’t through overfeeding, thank you for doing what you do for our precious fur babies.”

Fans quickly rallied to Pete’s defence, clarifying that Eric’s health and age restrict his mobility rather than any negligence. One supporter wrote: “That’s Eric! He’s got health issues & is very old! Pete definitely looks after him!” Pete responded with a emoji, appreciating the support.

Filmed across the UK alongside Dogs Trust, the series promises heartfelt rescue stories, emotional reunions, and the real heroes behind dog rehabilitation.

“It’s official – we are back! Series 4 of Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake is underway. And I think it’s gonna be the best series yet!” Pete teased on Instagram. “I am so blessed to be able to work alongside @dogstrust in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of  dogs in need. This is all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
