Kelvin Fletcher has revealed that life behind the smiles and family farm cameras has not always been simple, as he reflected on the “testing times” he and wife Liz Marsland have faced during their marriage.
The former Emmerdale star, 41, who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, married fellow actor Liz in a secret London ceremony in 2015. Their love story goes back decades, with the pair first meeting when they were just eight years old before eventually becoming a couple in 2009.
Since then, Kelvin and Liz have built a busy family life together, welcoming daughter Marnie, son Milo, and twin boys Mateusz and Maximus.
But despite their happy family image, Kelvin has admitted marriage takes real effort.
Speaking on the Ameliarate Through Wine podcast, he said couples must “work hard” and take their wedding vows seriously.
“You’ve got to put the hard work in,” Kelvin explained. “You’ve got to take those seriously — for better or for worse, in sickness and in health.”
He added that every marriage faces difficult chapters, but those moments are when commitment matters most.
“In the testing times, you’ve got to have faith in what you are doing, and why you decided to take those vows, and see it through,” he said.

“Don’t hold each other back,” she said. “Just pursue what you need to do but do it as a team.”
Their family life is now being shared with viewers through Fletcher’s Family Farm, where Kelvin hopes audiences will see the honest reality behind their journey.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote that when they began their farming adventure, they had no clear roadmap.
“It was just a case of jumping in, embracing the unknown and backing ourselves,” he shared.
Kelvin added that he hopes viewers can relate to them as “a normal family” simply trying to build a life filled with adventure, discovery, and purpose.
