Anthony Head’s cause of death has been confirmed by his family after the TV star – famous for roles in Buffy, Little Britain and Ted Lasso – died aged 72

Anthony Head died from complications relating to pneumonia, his family have confirmed. The actor – best known for his roles in Buffy, Little Britain, and, more recently, Ted Lasso – has passed away at the age of 72.

His daughters, actresses Emily and Daisy Head, announced the tragic news in a statement to the Press Association. It said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head.”

Giving more details of the circumstances and cause of death, the statement continued: “He passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.”

Paying tribute to their father, Emily – famous for playing Carli D’Amato in E4’s sitcom The Inbetweeners – and Daisy, star of Harlots, The Syndicate and Shadow and Bone, said: “It has been, and forever will be, an honour and a privilege to be his daughters, and to have witnessed firsthand the impact both he and his work have had on so many.”
