A fresh political row has erupted in the UK after opposition figures accused Justice Secretary David Lammy of taking legal action to block the release of crime statistics on foreign nationals.
Zia Yusuf, home affairs spokesman for Reform UK, said both the current Labour and former Conservative governments had refused to release the data. He said the British public had a right to know the full social impact of mass immigration and that if his party came to power, the data would be released immediately.
The Ministry of Justice argued that collecting the data would be disproportionately expensive and that releasing some of the information could infringe the privacy rights of the individuals concerned. However, the Information Commissioner has previously rejected these arguments, and the case is likely to go to court.
The second half of the video also featured news that David Lammy was leaving the government. According to the television report shown, several senior ministers could lose their positions in the cabinet reshuffle, including Lammy. According to the report, the changes could be related to an internal reorganization of the government, although the official justification for the decisions is not known.
The commentator assessed this as a political failure, however, these statements can be considered his own opinion and do not reflect an official government position.
The case is expected to remain on the agenda in the coming weeks, especially if the court makes a decision on the disclosure of crime statistics for foreign nationals or if news of a government reshuffle is officially confirmed.
