Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative political activist and Trump ally, was shot dead on Wednesday while addressing students at Utah Valley University. After a more than 33-hours publicized manhunt, authorities announced on Friday that they had apprehended the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
“This is transcending not only the youth generation but also the older generations. This is a hit on our country, it is a hit on our movement, it’s a hit on.. Christianity, it’s a hit on religion, it’s a hit on freedom,” said Eric Trump. “It emphasizes the dichotomy between good and evil in this country..”
Kirk’s killing poured condemnation from political leaders from across the country.

Following Kirk’s death President Trump said no-one had the heart of all in the United States better than Kirk. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead”, he wrote in a post on Truth Social. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
This latest incident of “political violence” happened a day before the Sep. 11 anniversary. President Trump announced awarding Kirk a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom during a ceremony at the Pentagon marking the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. He blamed the violence on the rhetoric of the “radical left” in an evening address although the shooter’s identity and motives remained unknown.
Former president Barack Obama condemned the incident. “We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children”, he wrote on X.
