She’s celebrating love but still haunted by trauma. Davina McCall admits she “can’t stop crying” nearly a year after her brain tumour surgery — even as she reveals her secret summer engagement

Davina McCall has admitted she “can’t stop crying” as she continues to process the trauma of her brain tumour surgery, even while celebrating her recent engagement.

The 57-year-old TV presenter appeared on Loose Women in a pre-recorded interview with Jane Moore and Nadia Sawalha, where she discussed her new book Birthing and opened up about her health journey.

Nearly a year ago, Davina underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumour after doctors discovered a colloid cyst during a health check linked to her menopause advocacy work. The operation, carried out in November 2024, was a success, but the emotional impact has stayed with her.

Davina admitted, “I have got this thing where I can’t stop crying. I cry a lot when I talk about it. But I’m going to try. It was traumatic, the experience. I feel amazing now though. I am so happy, I can’t believe I am here, with you, everything is a joy — getting up in the morning, having a coffee. I’m still in the joys of it.”

Fighting back tears, she added that she wants to move forward: “I want to put it behind me. I feel great. I want to stop crying. I want to stop.”

The mother-of-three, who was previously married to Matthew Robertson for 17 years, also spoke about her partner Michael Douglas, who supported her throughout the ordeal. Davina praised the celebrity hairdresser, who she first met in the 2000s while hosting Big Brother, for standing by her during the toughest moments.

Earlier this month, Davina confirmed she is now engaged to Michael after he secretly proposed over the summer. The couple have been together for more than seven years, and the news has brought fans immense joy amid Davina’s emotional recovery.
