Police have unmasked the killer who gunned down gangster Marc Webley in a brutal Hogmanay execution.

Grant Hunter pleaded guilty to murdering the 38-year-old at the High Court in Edinburgh today.

Hunter’s girlfriend, Emma McVie, has also been pictured by cops after she pled guilty to attempting to destroy evidence.

Another man, Gary Robertson, 22, pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to the incident.

Webley, 38, was shot dead at the Anchor Inn in Granton, Edinburgh, just before midnight on New Year’s Eve in 2023.

The hood was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries on January 1, 2024. Hunter was due to stand trial for the killing at the High Court in Edinburgh but pleaded guilty to Webley’s murder on Wednesday.

Hunter also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Stewart Pearson during the same incident.

Emma McVie, 27, and Gary Robertson 22, also appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The indictment against Hunter said the murder was “aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime”.

In the days before his death, Webley – who was cleared of two attempted murders in 2023 – posted on social media challenging his rivals to come and get him.

It’s understood that at the time, he told close pals he was expecting an attack and had been carrying weapons wherever he went.

In the daring video shared on social media, he said: “You could come to the pub. I’ll only be here a couple of hours. Surely gies you enough time. You’ve had all day to make an effort.

“We put the city on the map. Youse deal with the cops. Ha ha ha.”

The court heard how multiple shots were fired at Webley before one hit him. One bullet also hit Pearson.
