BUILDING HER OWN PLATFORM, as Lara Spencer unveiled a bold new design competition that she says will test contestants like never before “This will be the toughest challenge yet” she promised, inviting fans to join her outside the HGTV spotlight…

Former HGTV star Lara Spencer is returning to design competition television with a new series titled That Thrifting Show.

The former host of Flea Market Flip, which ran for 14 seasons before ending in 2019, will headline the 12 episode series premiering Thursday, March 19, at 9 p.m. on Freeform.

The first six episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu.

According to the trailer, the format places two designer duos in identical rooms with two days and a $2,000 budget.

The twist is strict.

Contestants must source only thrifted, vintage, or upcycled items, with no new purchases permitted.

Teams are shown searching thrift stores and flea markets, and in one scene even digging through discarded materials in search of usable pieces.

Spencer reacts on camera with enthusiasm, encouraging the unconventional approach to design.

Judges Dani Klarić, Preston Konrad, and Robert Hartwell will evaluate the completed spaces and determine which team delivers the strongest transformation.

Spencer also announced a live competition component during an appearance on Good Morning America, where two teams will redesign spaces in real time under the judges’ supervision.

Fan reaction has been notably positive.

Many longtime viewers of Flea Market Flip expressed excitement about Spencer returning to a format centered on secondhand finds and creative reinvention.

Some described the new show as a natural evolution of the thrifting concept, while others shared nostalgia for her previous series.

That Thrifting Show positions itself as a design challenge rooted in sustainability and budget conscious creativity.

The series premieres March 19 on Freeform, with streaming on Hulu beginning March 20.
