Carson Daly spoke out about the emotional toll on his colleague Savannah Guthrie, reflecting on her “resilience” in the wake of her mother Nancy’s suspected abduction. Despite more than 50 days of agony and uncertainty, Guthrie has shown immense strength in the face of such a tragic event.
His comments come after Savannah gave her first TV interview with Hoda Kotb, where she bravely opened up about the unimaginable pain she’s enduring. The interview, set to air in two parts on March 26 and 27, reveals Guthrie’s heartbreaking struggle as her mother’s abduction case continues.
Carson, visibly moved, shared his thoughts: “It’s gut-wrenching to watch someone you love so much be, still post–50 days of this tragic event, in this tortured limbo state, yet to still show so much resilience among it all.”:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(749x0:751x2)/carson-daly-savannah-guthrie-2-032526-d5f4072e61cd4c1aaea9b50f5fcbc61f.jpg)
He also noted how difficult it was to witness Savannah “no closer to closure” after such a long time.
Savannah’s words in the interview were raw and emotional. She described the constant agony she and her family are facing, with her mother missing since February 1. In the interview, Guthrie said, “Someone needs to do the right thing, we are in agony. We are in agony.” She added that she wakes up every night, tormented by the thought of her mother’s terror.
Despite the anguish, Guthrie remains hopeful, with Hoda Kotb describing her as having both desperation and resilience. “She’s hoping somebody, whoever this person is, will see something and say something,” Kotb said, visibly moved by the emotional conversation.
Carson Daly joined in, expressing how painful it is to witness someone he cares about continue to suffer. “It’s gut-wrenching to watch someone you love so much be still post-50 days of this tragic event in this tortured limbo state… yet, to still show so much resilience and grace among it all.”
This heart-wrenching moment on TODAY has left viewers deeply moved by Savannah’s strength in the face of unimaginable hardship.
