France and Spain are set to meet in a blockbuster World Cup clash on Tuesday, July 14, with two European giants fighting for a place in the final.
Kylian Mbappe heads into the clash in unstoppable form, having already recorded 11 goal contributions in six matches at the tournament.
With La Roja looking for any possible way to contain the France captain, some Spanish fans have turned to an unlikely ally — Mbappé’s girlfriend, Spanish actress Ester Exposito.
Supporters flooded her Instagram comments with playful requests, jokingly asking her to “help” Spain by keeping Mbappe distracted before the semifinal.
“Hi Ester, how are you? Nothing special, I’m just writing to ask you for a favor: on Monday night, invite Mbappe to dinner and make sure you tire him out, because we’ll need him very, very exhausted the next day. We’re counting on you! You know what to do. Do it for your country! Do it for Spain!”
“We believe in you! This is your time to make history! Tire him out! Act like a demanding girlfriend, don’t let him sleep. Ask him to bring you water in the middle of the night! Do what girlfriends do best! Spain needs you! Your people need you!”
Of course, it is all just football banter — but with Mbappé in this kind of form, Spanish fans are apparently willing to try absolutely anything.
