Sam Heughan is set to star alongside Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons in a new thriller series.
As the final season of Outlander comes to an end, the Scottish actor will appear in Prime Video’s upcoming six-part series Embassy, which is due to launch in 2027.
Now shooting in locations including Germany and England, the “action-packed” show comes from writer and creator Rom Lotan and directors Christian Alvart and John Strickland, the latter of whom is known for projects including The Rig and Bodyguard.
Embassy follows Kendrick’s character Layla, a sharp and resourceful American diplomat who is faced with an impossible choice when When armed mercenaries storm the U.S. Embassy in London. Does she protect the U.S. Ambassador – played by Simmons – or follow his orders to exfiltrate a high value asset being held at the embassy.
As a larger conspiracy unfolds before extraction, Layla must rely on her instincts – and the reluctant help of her ex-fiancé, a British SAS soldier played by Heughan.
As well as the three main stars, the show’s cast also includes Aleksandar Jovanovic, Lydia Leonard, Mitya Savelau, Hasan Akil, James Murray, Luke Treadaway, Stephen Odubola, Katie McGrath, Alexander Karim and Natalie Mendoza.
Produced by Ascendent Fox and Turbine Studios, it has been created for AGC Television, the television production and distribution arm of Stuart Ford’s powerhouse independent content studio AGC Studios, Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios. Lotan and Strickland also serve as executive producers, alongside Ascendant Fox’s Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli and Matt Mitchell, Turbine’s Daniel Hetzer, Jakob Neuhausser, Justin Thomson and David Tanner, and AGC’s Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz and Miguel A. Palos Jr.
