Fox News Viewers Are Calling For Jesse Watters To Be Fired After His Latest Controversial Moment

Jesse Waters has worked with Fox News for years. However, he recently sparked debate on social media concerning comments made in light of a certain current event. Some commenters have even discussed Watters’ future on the show.

Jesse Waters Has Been Hosting His Own Primetime Series Since 2022

Watters is a political commentator and host known for his work with various Fox News shows. Early in his career, he became known for appearing on The O’Reilly Factor. This led to his own segment, “Watters’ World,” which eventually spun off into its own show.

In 2017, Watters also became known for co-hosting The Five. By 2022, he also became the host of his own New York City-based program, Jesse Watters Primetime.

During the past Tuesday episode of Primetime, Watters backed President Donald Trump’s insistence that the current Venezuela operation is dissimilar to the Iraq War. During the episode, Watters played a clip of MS Now‘s Joe Scarborough sharing a recent conversation in which Trump said the difference between Iraq and Venezuela would be that he will be “keeping the oil.”

On Morning Joe, Scarborough shared, “I asked him, I said, ‘Mr. President, when you say, quote, we’re going to run everything that obviously causes deep concerns because of the disaster in Iraq. The president’s response, ‘Joe, the difference between Iraq and this is that Bush didn’t keep the oil. We’re going to keep the oil.’”

As previously reported, Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured by U.S. forces and are facing charges of narco-terrorism. For the time being, Trump has claimed that the United States will “run” the South American country. This, in turn, has led critics to ask if this action could start a war.

For his part, Watters has criticized claims that Trump’s declarations about Venezuela’s oil are “imperialistic.” As he argued, “Trump says, ‘take the oil,’ Democrats call that imperialistic. We call it common sense. You know, we won spoils after World War II. We told our allies, lose the colonies.”

Watters’ Comments Concerning Somewhere Up North Got A Few Responses Online

Watters continued, “We’ve neglected our own neighborhood for the last 25 years because we were stuck in the sand in Iraq and Afghanistan. And while we were there, China swooped into our backyard and turned out all of our neighbors.”

However, one comment from Watters that especially got commenters talking was a suggestion concerning the United States’ relationship with a Northern territory. At one point, he shared, “Maybe we use the oil money from Venezuela to buy Greenland,” even suggesting to “share it with the Danes.”

As noted by CNN, the idea of U.S. interest in Greenland dates back to the 19th century. The Secretary of State William H. Seward was interested in buying Greenland after the purchase of Alaska in 1867. U.S. interest in the territory has since resurfaced over the years. At one point, the U.S. was interested in making a swap with Denmark for Greenland, using territory in the Philippines.

Many viewers responded to Watters’ recent comments concerning Greenland on social media platforms, including X. Many debated the ethics, while others speculated if such an idea could even take place. Some comments included:

  • “This complete and utter moron. Greenland doesn’t want to be bought by the US. They don’t want to join this s*******. Ffs.”
  • “Maybe Fox News could use the money it saves from firing Watters and hire a journalist.”
  • “They seem to think Greenland is for sale and if it was the agreement in place with Denmark is the UK has the first option to buy it.”
  • “Greenland isn’t optional—it’s the shield over North America. Watters is right: strategic assets like Greenland’s missile-intercept position and Venezuela’s oil are non-negotiable for U.S. security.”
