Music history was made when Sir Tom Jones and Mick Hucknall shocked The O2 Arena with a jaw-dropping surprise duet of Ain’t That a Lot of Love! The crowd erupted as the two legends delivered a powerhouse performance, reviving Sir Tom’s chart-topping 1999 hit in a way no one saw coming. The star-studded night wasn’t just electrifying—it raised a staggering £1 million for cancer research!
The two singers performed ‘Ain’t That a Lot of Love’, a song which Simply Red released a house version of in 1999 which reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart.
Sir Tom, 79, also covered the song with Simply Red on his 1999 duet album Reload.
Reload became the highest seller of Sir Tom’s career, reaching number one on the British charts in 1999 and again in 2000.
The duo’s surprise duet left the audience delighted, as both artists also performed their solo hits.
Mick later tweeted: “Always a pleasure singing with the Welsh Wizard!”
Sir Tom posted: “Thrilled, to hear last night’s benefit show @TheO2 has raised £1 million for @royalmarsden cancer charity.
“It was an honour to lend my support amongst a line up of stellar musicians. #music4marsden.”
It comes as Bonnie Tyler revealed she wants to record a duet with Sir Tom.
Speaking backstage to Smooth Radio about fellow Welsh artist Sir Tom, Bonnie smiled: “He’s fabulous, oh I’d love to work with Tom again. I did work with Tom in the 70s.
“We worked in Los Angeles and did a few shows over there. Of course, I was just a support act… not that he needs one. But I was there anyway and he was amazing.
“But he’s just stronger than ever and his voice is amazing. He looks so good as well. He looks great with his grey hair now. I’m not brave enough to show mine yet, I still put my streaks in!
“I would love to work with Tom Jones. I would love to do a duet with him. You never know, if I bump into him later I might ask him one time. We might see him later on!”
Managing Director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, Antonia Dalmahoy, said: “What an incredible night! We are so grateful to these legendary artists for coming along and performing their hits tonight.
“I’d also like to thank all the celebrity hosts and the show producers and promoters who have worked so hard to make the show happen and to support this important cause, and of course everyone who bought a ticket who together have raised a huge amount of money.
