Coronation Street’s Farrel Hegarty has confirmed she has left the ITV soap.

Farrel joined the show last year as Lou Michaelis. She moved into a house near Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) alongside her partner Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton).

The two characters were introduced as part of a ‘neighbours from hell’ storyline, and ended up causing some serious chaos on the cobbles.

As for Lou, her exit from Weatherfield happened when she was arrested after brutally attacking Gary Windass (Mikey North). The couple’s children, Shanice, Joanie and Brody, are now being cared for by Tim and Sally Metcalfe (Joe Duttine and Sally Dynevor).

Lou began appearing on the show again earlier this year, when Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) was sent behind bars for her apparent involvement in the Corriedale crash.

As she tried to get used to her new surroundings, Debbie was told she’d have another inmate around to look after her, which turned out to be Lou.

The duo formed a surprising friendship, but that looks set to come to an end soon, as star Farrel Hegarty has revealed she’s left the show.

‘I’m out of the show now. I’ve stopped filming’, she said in an episode of the Girlfriend Material podcast.

‘I came back in Corrie for, like, a short stint. I was [initially] in it for six months and I came back because I’m in prison. She’s in prison. She’s not a good girl.’

After Debbie and Ronnie Bailey’s (Vinta Morgan) wedding, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) got in his car while drunk.

Debbie hopped in the passenger side and sped down the road with Carl. The crash happened, and because Carl woke up before Debbie, he chose to move her to the driver’s side, making it look as though she caused it.
