Gogglebox fans have rallied around Shaun Malone after the Channel 4 favourite revealed he is recovering from yet another brain operation, sharing candid photos from his hospital bed.

The 31-year-old television star admitted this latest procedure has been made even tougher by Britain’s ongoing heatwave, posting images showing staples across his head as he updated followers on his recovery.
Writing alongside the photos, Shaun joked that being stuck in hospital during the soaring temperatures was far from ideal, adding that brain surgery was definitely not the highlight of his year.
The latest operation is another chapter in a health battle that has shaped much of Shaun’s life since he was a teenager.
Back in 2010, what initially appeared to be a case of sinusitis developed into a life-threatening brain infection after the illness spread. The swelling became so severe that doctors were forced to perform emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain.
Looking back on the ordeal during an appearance on the Coaching From The Sofa podcast, Shaun revealed doctors gave him less than a 10 per cent chance of surviving.
He recalled initially being diagnosed with sinusitis before collapsing at home and falling into a coma that lasted several weeks. When he eventually regained consciousness, he was left dealing with brain damage that affected his memory and the entire left side of his body.
Shaun explained that he had effectively suffered a stroke, leaving him unable to move his left arm, left leg and even part of his face during his recovery.
His mother, Julie Malone, has also spoken about the terrifying experience, recalling how doctors warned the family that Shaun’s chances of surviving surgery were extremely slim.

She revealed that after a hospital bed was finally secured, surgeons spent six hours removing part of his skull to relieve the dangerous swelling on his brain. Shaun then remained in a coma for two weeks before beginning the long process of rehabilitation.
One of the biggest challenges came after he woke up, as he had to learn how to walk again from scratch.
Despite the devastating setback, Shaun has remained remarkably open about his health journey over the years, often sharing updates with fans while continuing to appear alongside the Malone family on Gogglebox, where they have become one of the programme’s most loved households since joining in 2014.
His latest update has prompted an outpouring of support from viewers, with many wishing him a smooth recovery as he continues healing following the operation.
