Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been urged to abandon their attempts to stage “faux-royal tours”. The couple, who are currently in Australia to carry out a series of engagements for causes close to their hearts, stepped down as senior working royals six years ago.
The couple made their shock announcement that they were stepping away from royal duties in January 2020, with their final engagement as senior royals taking place just weeks later. Like previous trips the couple have taken in recent years, their latest trip has been compared to official royal tours, which are typically carried out by working royals.
Royal fans were asked to share their opinion on whether Meghan and Harry should be allowed to carry out unofficial tours by the Daily Express.
In the poll, which ran between 10am on April 14 and 6.30pm on April 16, 4,737 fans placed their vote, with a majority voting ‘no’
A staggering 4,493 people voted that the couple should not carry out unofficial tours, whilst 200 people voted that they should be allowed to do so if they want to.
An additional 44 people said they are unsure whether the couple should conduct unofficial tours abroad.
One fan commented: “No. No. No. No”.

A second added: “No, not if they are pretending to be royals. As individuals they can do as they please, but strip them of their titles.”
A third said: “NO! They are not working royals anymore. They ran away because they didn’t get paid per event they did? Even though they got given an allowance. They do not represent the uk monarchy, the government or the country, only themselves? So no this is not a royal tour, just a private paid for business trip!”
Another said: “JUST STOP with trying to get us to accept the duplicitous traitorous pair back. They are disloyal, dishonest and will do anything to make money for themselves. They do not care about philanthropic work only that they are promoting themselves and they hope raking in more bucks.”
The couple are thought to be in Australia until Sunday, with Meghan appearing at the Her Best Life podcast three-day retreat from Friday.
