In todayâs episode, with tensions high at the Rovers, Ben had a meltdown. After throwing Maggieâs belongings onto the street, Ben told her that she had betrayed him, saying: âYouâve been letting people down your whole life. Me most of all.â
Steve took pity on Maggie, who poured out her heart and assured him that he and his brother, Andy, meant the world to Jim, just as Ben and Finlay do to her.
Steve begged Ben to hear Maggie out, but he said: âThis is none of your business, Steve, and she had no right spilling her guts to you anyway.â
When Steve pointed out that they are family, Ben lost it and threw him out of the pub along with the rest of the customers.
âEverything I thought I knew has been turned upside down,â said Ben. âAnd you, oh, you think thatâs a reason to celebrate, do you?â
After Steve said, âItâs not every day you get a new brotherâ, Ben said: âYouâre no brother of mine. Youâre nothing to me. Now get out, now.â
He forcefully pushed him out of the pub, then screamed to the rest of the punters: âOut, the lot of youâs. Do one. Out. Now.â
In a heart-to-heart with Eva, Ben told her he felt like he was âfailing at everythingâ and that heâd let everyone down.
Eva said: âRight, enough now. Self-pity doesnât suit you. Youâre not failing at anything. Youâre doing your best, love, which is all anybody can do. And I tell you something else â itâs good enough for me.â
